Received training in Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Physiology from the University of Virginia, USA

Graduated from T.N. Medical College, University of Mumbai, India

Dr. Contractor has also worked and trained under Dr. Neil Gordon, considered one of the authorities and pioneers in the field of Preventive Cardiology and Rehabilitation. He has also done a short stint under Dr. Dean Ornish, best selling author of the book, 'Reversal of Heart Disease', and on the board of physicians to the United States President

Dr. Contractor returned to India in 2001 and set up the first telemetry monitored Cardiac Rehabilitation program in India, in the city of Mumbai

He then set up the dept of Preventive Cardiology and Rehabilitation at the Asian Heart Institute, and has been with the Institute, since its inception

As part of the Asian Heart Team, Dr. Contractor has coordinated the medical support for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, since its inception in 2004

Was part of the team of Doctors who treated our Hon'ble PM – Dr. Manmohan Singh after his redo bypass surgery in Jan'09

Dr. Contractor has several publications, both in textbooks as well as Journals

He is currently involved in a study looking at physical activity and cardiac risk factors in 1000 school children

Secretary (since 2007) and Governing Council Member (since 2000) of the National Society for Prevention of Heart Disease and Rehabilitation (NSPHERE)

Governing Council Member, of the All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity
