Asian Heart Institute(AHI) has been the Official Medical Partner of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon from its inception, providing medical aid and helping Mumbai run safe. In order to achieve this, AHI sets up 10 medical stations along the route for any first aid required; 2 Base camps at the start/finish – equipped to handle all emergencies; deploys 10 Ambulances with a doctor and nurse and 350 volunteers including doctors, nurses, paramedical & support staff are on duty. This year, the team also had 6 medics on motorbikes to patrol every part of the course, to pick up injured runners even sooner.

Each year 75 of our cardiac patients run the Marathon & show the world that heart disease can't deter them from living a normal life. Often people feel that life ends with heart disease, but our Bravehearts show that life actually begins fresh after heart disease. This year was special as one of our cardiac patients successfully completed the 42 km Full marathon while 10 others did the Half Marathon (21 kms.). In addition we had 60 patients who finished the Dream Run! Asian Heart is proud to be associated with this annual event, which showcases the spirit of Mumbai, and showcases the spirit of AHI.
